On A Budget? 5 Killer Ways On How To Keep Down The Cost When Eating Out
If you are in debt and need to make savings, life doesn’t have to be completely miserable. Just because you are tightening the purse strings it doesn’t mean that you have to avoid eating out completely. Just bear in mind these helpful tips.
1. Set Meals Look out for set meals in restaurants. You may get a special offer on lunch, pre-theater or even some dinner menus. You often find oriental or Indian food may be offered at a set price. For this you often get a buffet selection so there almost certainly will be something for all tastes. Eating out with a family can be quite expensive. Again look for a set meal that may include a free child’s meals with every adult meal.
2. Use Vouchers Use vouchers such as two-for-one vouchers or a ‘lunch for $6’ offer. These offers often appear in national newspapers or magazines – or even on the TV. There are also voucher websites that regularly offer these kinds of deals. Cut out and keep these deals and only try to go out and eat using these vouchers. Remember you are trying to avoid spending unnecessarily.
3. Drink tap water When you are in debt you must do all you can to save money. Don’t be afraid to ask for a glass of tap water as your drink with a meal in a restaurant. This will usually be free. Restaurants make a massive mark up on their drinks and this is where most of their profits come from. If you are serious about getting out of debt then don’t be frightened to ask for a simple glass of tap water.
4. Be aware of additional service charges Be aware that the restaurant doesn’t add an additional service charge on top of your bill – particularly if paying by credit card. When a service charge is included you should not leave a tip for the waiter/waitress staff as well.
5. Take away food When you buy food and there is a choice of eating in the food establishment or taking it away to eat elsewhere – then take it away. You will pay extra to eat on their premises. If it is a nice sunny day then find a quiet spot either in a park or somewhere peaceful where you can enjoy your food.
So it can be seen there are simple savings to be made which means you can still enjoy eating out and having fun with your family whilst still watching the pennies and avoiding spending a fortune.
